A hat chat

As mentioned before, I'm now into crochet mode.  It happens after the holidays.  Usually it's knitting mode I'm into in January, but this being a leap year I decided to change things up.  Ruts aren't good and I'm prone.  This one is a very simple beanie done in half double crochets.

I made this one using two yarns held together.  It worked up a little bigger than the first one, so I'll keep it for myself since I have big hair--and much more than I really need.  Mr. Gadget isn't so lucky, but he continues to refuse my donor offers.
I used Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice for this one.  It's just one strand but has a pretty color effect.  For the edge I did a crab stitch.  I first used this stitch on the dust mop sweater I made for Big City Girl long ago (I wonder how many dust bunnies it has collected by now?)  It's done by single crocheting backwards.  It takes a little getting used to but  makes a very pretty edge.
The yarn for this navy blue one is Cascade 220.  After I finished the crocheting I realized it was much too big.  So I felted it.  And then it was too small.  So now it's a basket.  But that's ok because I have lots of odds and ends that usually land in a basket somewhere here in the Treehouse.  I suppose I could store my K-cups in it.  That's a great idea.  I wonder how I ever thought of that.....
